Reviews:

The Voice of an Angel
I have never heard a real angel but Loreena's gift must be really close. For many years I had been listening for a feminine voice and music whose sound would touch a place in my soul. One day on a very long drive in West Texas, while listening to XM radio, I heard that voice and went to Amazon.com as soon as possible to order some of Loreena's music. It did not disappoint. This and about six of her other albums have all become my absolute favorites. This is not your every day variety junk stuff. We are talking real beauty and phenomenal art. Her story itself gives some insight into what this lady's soul must be like...her music does the rest. Thank you for sharing, Loreena.

21 tracks, 20 great ones.
I love Loreena's voice. This 2-cd collection is a combination live/greatest hits collection. I found every song, except one, to be wonderfully inspiring. The only thing I don't understand, and I've never understood this from any artist---why put a truncated radio or single cut on a recording? It is so disappointing to be listening to The Mummer's Dance and have it cut in the middle to make it shorter. I just do not understand that---Don McLean had American Pie done that way, I've heard In-a-la-ga-da-vida done that way and it just doesn't make sense.

Love this artist!
I have collected and recollected all of Loreena McKennitt's work over the years. Every time I get a new CD, one of my 3 daughters or Co-Workers would listen to it and beg for me to give it to them. Obviously, I couldn't refuse because of my own great love for the great music. We are now a FAMILY of Loreena McKennitt fans!!

A Mediterranean Odyssey
Loreena Mckennitt can do no wrong with me. Her beautiful voice gives me so much joy whenever I listen to her sing. She is one of the few artists whose music I will always buy, new music or not. That is the case with her latest release A Mediterranean Odyssey, a two CD box set based on Loreena's tour in countries set along the Mediterranean sea like Greece. The first CD is The Olive and the Cedar, a collection of Loreena's music. It is kind of like an unofficial greatest hits/best of quality. The album features songs dating back to The Visit. The second disc is From Istanbul to Athens, a live disc. While there is no new material on the whole box set, I never get tired of listening to songs like "Santiago" or "Full Circle". As much as I enjoyed this collection, I find myself enjoying Loreena's previous release Nights from the Alhambra. Nevertheless A Mediterranean Odyssey is a nice hold me over until Loreena puts out an album of new material. I think A Mediterranean Odyssey is a good introduction for new fans looking to check out Loreena's music, this is a good way to hear her music.

ok
too much of a repeat of what I already have, but beautiful none the less.
