FELT 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez

Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
B-List actresses be warned and flattered because FELT is back! Slug (Atmosphere) and Murs (Living Legends) reunite for their third release from moniker FELT. These MCs teamed up with The Grouch (Living Legends) in 2002 to release FELT's debut album A Tribute to Christina Ricci. Collaborating with producer Ant (Atmosphere) in 2005 resulted in their second coming A Tribute to Lisa Bonet. With the fresh addition of Aesop Rock (Def Jux) on production and unwavering love for those forgotten actresses who warmed their hearts, Slug and Murs are pleased to present FELT 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez.

Sad Clowns Shall Pass
As a long time fan of Atmosphere and Ace Rock, I was both surprised and excited to hear what they would do together. "Felt 2" demonstrated that Murs & Slug were starting to find their groove together, but there's one problem: it's just Atmosphere featuring Murs. For Felt to make their own identity, they needed to break away and do their own thing. On "Felt 3," Aesop Rock takes the El-P sound to another level. The best part is that you don't often see Def Jux & Rhymesayers working together. The result is Ace at his best, which is challenging these seasoned MCs to hear their music in a different way. Why do you think there are so many different flows on this album? They're out of their comfort zone and making interesting music. Have any of these guys ever made the same record twice? Not really. Unlike many listeners, I'm glad that Felt is still a creative force and hasn't conceded to riding on their laurels.

Better than the first two! In my opinion
I'm pretty sure that the people who have rated this so low haven't listened to the album very much. I've listened to it well over 20 times and I think it just gets better. Aesops production gave them a little different sound which is exactly what these pioneers were working towards. The ones who don't like it were probably looking for the same thing they heard on the first two felts. This album will grow on you the more you listen to it. Overall I think that this is the best Felt album. That's my opinion.

felt
nothing like some felt the best from the west n midcoast pt2 still stands out the most from the 3 but this one is good too

A letdown.
Good album, maybe even a great album, but overall it just doesn't compare to Felt or Felt 2. I felt going with Aesop Rock was one of the worst decisions Slug and Murs could have made. Long before the album was released, I heard Aesop Rock was producing the album and the news gave me mixed emotions, all of them relatively negative. I feel there is too much going on during the beats and some lack personality. I'll listen to a song on Felt 3, and think to myself "this song/measure would have been perfect with/without _____". With Felt and Felt 2, I don't get that feeling. I find myself skipping over tracks during Felt 3, and I'm not only referring to filler tracks like "Get Cake". There are a few amazing tracks on the album, but overall, I'd give the album a B+ at best. The lyrics however are still top notch, mostly. I really can't get enough of Murs and Slug, they're two of the most amazing in the business, but Felt 3 was just a let down. I wasn't surprised to find myself listening to Felt and Felt 2 shortly after listening to Felt 3 a few times. One last thing, what the hell is up with having twenty tracks?

Raw beats to bang in yall streets
Three of the greatest rappers of today to create an album with variety and staying power. Nothing else needs to be said.
