Since her arrival on the radio airwaves in the early 80's, Madonna has been the premiere pop songtress for an entire generation. Whole true her popularity has waxed and waned and her over-the-top, domineering sexuality has left some listeners turning a cold ear to her music. However, through it all she crafted some of the finest recorded pop music ever. And this collection, the 2 disc version, is the celebration of all things Madonna. Taken as a whole, with it's unchoronological track order, "Celebration" is as perfect as pop music can get. Madonna's knack for adding her own special sound, her unique sensibility to her work is as strong as ever. The addition of the two new tracks, "Celebration" and "Revolver" find Madonna exerting her presence over the beats that are farmed from two different genres and two different productioh teams. From the dance floor haven of the title track to the love is a battlefield groove of "Revolver"--Madonna still reigns as the Queen of Pop. Both tracks fit nicely into the pantheon that is "34 Songs That Changed The World" Fans can dissect and analyze the songs included; what mixes weren't used and how much better a certain track, a bigger "hit" would have been. Granted the album is decidedly dance track heavy, but Madonna's knack for filling up the dance floor at any club (gay or straight) is partly responsible for her longevity as an artist. The album's art direction (done wonderfully by Mr. Brainwash) also pay hommage to Madonna's iconic imagery, something that Madonna herself is keen on using in all the various forms of her performance. Even without a logo or title, anyone could walk by that record just sitting there on the store self and know who that woman is glancing back at them. The sound of the tracks on the album is crisp and clear. With many of the older tracks benefiting from the remastering process. However, oddly enough, the sets new track "Revolver" sounds muffled and heavy. It has a very rough feel to it which may or may not be intentional. To balance that out, older songs like "Who's That Girl", "Cherish" and "Burning Up" are given a new life on this album and I'm sure many people who may have forgetten this singles will gladly re-embrace them all over again. No "Greatest Hits" collection is perfect. Especially for someone like Madonna, who has had a career that is spanning into 30 years. Some of your favorite tracks may not be included and certain mixes presented may not suit your personal taste--but as a whole "Celebration" is just that. A reminder of what made Madonna into the living legend she is today.

Missing Erotica on the 1 CD collection!
First of all, I only have the one compact disc collection. There are two choices either one compact disc or both which features Erotica. Sadly, I don't have that one with two discs. There are might be other songs in the 2 disc collection than this one. Actually, my sister bought this collection disc. If I had a choice, I would have gotten the two disc collection. I found it interesting that this collection doesn't feature Madonna's racy song, "Erotica," in the mix of her greatest hits. Maybe Celebration wasn't supposed to be her greatest hits compilation but I think Erotica should be on this collection because it was one of her best hits. She always broke ground with songs like "Like a Virgin," "Like a Prayer," Papa Don't Preach, and of course, "Erotica." The other songs are on this compilation but not Erotica. Madonna has always pushed buttons, issues, and sexuality to the forefront of world culture. Erotica and the video was quite racy, daring, and even breaking new ground. As Madonna has matured in the years, she has moved away from the groundbreaking that she did early in her career but she still sings the hits that made her famous, wealthy, and admired by millions. No matter how many female performers will imitate and copy her, there is only one Madonna.

This have to be one of the best collections of all time.. Amazing Madonna. Still, there's a lot of missing songs... So if u have the chance, get this and u won't regret it. [..].

Best versions of her classics, but still many missing!!
Even if you've collected Madonna's entire library over the years, you might find yourself wanting to pick up Celebration because it includes some edits and remasters that can't be found on album versions. It also includes the fun new tracks "Celebration" and "Revolver" both of which are excellent. If you can live without the remastering and a few new versions, you might want to skip this album all together though. Madonna's lengthy career spans more than 2 discs, and frankly they've missed out too many classics. Her DVD Celebration: The Video Collection, however, is an amazing release that is much more of a true greatest hits collection, especially since it would be an injustice to not consider her unprecedented music videos over her career. Overall, a great gift for the casual Madonna fan, or a must-have for the hardcore fanatic!
