A Morbidly Fascinating, Short Documentary
I have never listened to the music of G.G. Allin, but I've heard about his infamous stage antics which have pretty much overshadowed the fact that this man even had somewhat of a musical career. This documentary, by director Todd Phillips (you may know him as the director of films like Old School and The Hangover) gets up close (but not exactly personal) with the legend that was G.G. Allin. The documentary opens with a quote by John Wayne Gacy, the notorious serial killer who got to know Allin through prison visitations. Other people interviewed include some fans of Allin, Allin's brother/bass player Merle Allin (who sports a strangely menacing, ridiculous Hitler-like moustache), and a former member of Allin's band who had no respect or admiration for what Allin was doing on stage. The documentary shows Allin on-stage at various venues, as well as a spoken-word performance where Allin attacked a woman. That's hardly the worst thing you'll see Allin do in this doc and, with that said, be aware: this is a graphic, disgusting documentary. There is full-frontal nudity from both genders, consummation of bodily waste, images of self-mutilation, etc. Little seems to be known about the true character of G.G. Allin and this film does little to enlighten us, but I don't quite consider that a fault. I don't think anyone, let alone Allin, had a concept of who he was. Being neither a fan nor a hater, I was entranced by this documentary but I'm still unable to come to a conclusion about G.G. Allin. Was he an insane, vile human being (as many think) or a symbol of the animalistic nature that exists in all humans? People seem to be drawn on this as I am, but I find it hard to deny Allin had some mental issues. Maybe Allin (and others) saw his antics as representing something important, but how do you justify eating your own feces in front of an audience? Not just that, but smearing it on yourself and throwing it into the crowd? Anyone hoping to understand Allin will have to continue looking in vain, but this short documentary does serve as a visual presentation of one of the craziest, most violent musicians who ever lived. If you're a fan or just curious about this infamous character, this is worth your time. GRADE: B

Worth the Purchase
I was curious about GG Allin. I found this DVD for a good deal here on Amazon. It is totally worth it. Not the best movie or anything but was definitly worth watching. The bonus footage was the most interesting I thought. The style in which this documentary was shot I usually find intreguing. You do not here from the director at all he just points shoots and edits all the footage to tell the story itself. If you like this style I also recomend the Doc. "Dope Sick Love" ANyway, I had a great expierience with Amazon and the Seller. I got the DVD in 1 day. The web said it could be up to 14 days.

Stupid crap for the mental brain damaged
Why anyone would want to watch this crap from some retard is beyond me.My guess is that most of his followers are drug addicts, loners unable to have any relationship with females, and 25+ males that are unable to grow into mature adults,so they try to stay 16,and most likely still live with their parent{or at least depend on their parents paying their bills}.Shun this crap like a leper!

Music...not to entertain, but to ANNIHILATE
With the sensitivity of Russian Roulette, it was a freakshow to appall you. A voice to rape your eardrums. A torrent of supreme vengeance fixated on your fears and exposing your repressed emotions. Hellbent on shredding the societal chains that shackle the weak and powerless. It was pure rage without restraint... the GG Allin show. This is one well-made, brutal documentary. Born Jesus Christ Allin, this punk rock singer was considered a raving lunatic by many and the prophetic voice of rebellion by others. This film diligently chronicles in relentless, uncompromising detail the violent escapades that constantly encompassed his life, both on stage and off. From his fighting, arrests(50+), exposing himself in public, self-mutilation, chaotic music, appearance on Geraldo--it's all here in alarming fashion. It talks about his plans for an onstage suicide on Halloween(which every year imprisonment prevented that from happening). We also get the gross pleasure of watching GG poop on stage and then getting creative--I won't go into details, you'll have to see it to believe it. There's plenty of other sick crazy stuff too. Not for those with weak stomachs, obviously. GG Allin refused to be controlled by authority, trapped by typical human comforts, or harnessed by any common acceptable behaviors. He carried the ultimate(screw)you philosophy. His music reflects his life, a rebellious, punk rock icon who thrashed to the beat of his own demonic drum. HATED includes raw footage from his final performance, recorded just hours before his fatal drug overdose.

rocknroll warrior
Raw, brutal and true overall. GG Allin was the ultimate rockandroller, say no more. A must get for any GG Allin fan.
