Warm, witty, and wonderful - Everything these 2 are!
"Together Again" boasts perhaps one of the finest on-screen pairings since Laurel and Hardy. Carol and Julie have a terrific chemistry and never do you even get a hint that one is upstaging the other throughout the show. Their voices blend beautifully together, believe it or not, and if anybody runs away with the harmonies at all - It's Julie! That British exterior that some people "see" Ms. Andrews hide behind in some of her performances disappears the moment that Ms. Burnett enters. They are terrific to watch. I honestly hope that the companies who have the other two specials get wise and release them!
As for the program, it has some pretty hilarious moments in it. The women reminisce about their other two specials, and it's a joy to see the glimpses of them performing from 1962-1972. Then they do their "Poor Mama" rap, which is simply hysterical. The lyrics are brilliant for the two. They do some dance moves from the 80's and sing about adolescent daughters. They also manage to have a "British tea" which quickly turns into a good fight. Carol manages to squeeze e-claire fillings down Julie's dress, then Julie manages to cover Carol's entire head in whipped creme. It's a riot. The medley of 70's-80's music is great as well, with "Staying Alive" and "I'm Bad" (with Julie as Michael Jackson). Then comes the Bob Mackie part - "The Phantom of the Opry". It's a little corny but it's great to watch the women work together.
The gals are in their prime in this special. I just love watching them! It's a MUST HAVE for Burnett or Andrew's fans. I suggest you look wherever you can to find a suitable price. These women are AWESOME together!
The Best in Comedy for the Family
This video is one of the best family comedy videos I have seen. it is a wonderful mix of these two actresses and the times they worked together. The comedy is slapstick and original. I rememeber this video when it came on TV originally. I taped off of TV and the VCR later ate it. I am very happy I found it and can now own it again. I highly recommend this tape for an evening of laughter and fun!!
A wonderful pair, a singer and a comedian!
