Reviews:

great dance instruction to 2 songs & learn extra steps for any song
I rented this at my library. Fatima is a great dancer with great body awareness. She teaches you the choreography to most of Aliyah's Are You That Somebody & the end part of the Backstreet Boys Everybody & some of her extra dance steps you can take to a dance or club. The production was great quality, but the extra camera work, such as splitting her into 3 boxes & not zooming into the feet when she is telling you how to move them really killed the fully potential of this video. Fatima has a lively personality & feels like a friend helping you to learn. The only thing is she doesn't mirror you (calls out her left/right & you have to use opposite feet or shoe you the footwork by turning around for you. Some easy moves she seems to over explain, but others, such as footwork I wish she'd go slower since I get mixed up easy though I get the gist very easily. Her backup dancers also seem fun & everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Though seems like a lot of complaints, the great moves are not watered down & she shows you the clips of the real video & plays the real song as you dance to get you into the rhythm. I hope they put out more videos & put this one DVD since on my VHS it is so bad at going back to play at the right spot after rewinding.

What a woman, what a video
Fatima's personality makes this video a winner. She is a precise and clear teacher but not a bore by any means. She makes it fun. She goes over the hard spots again as if she knew you personally, knew where you would get stuck. She mixes play with teaching. You leave this tape with a smile on your face and a desire to go through it again and again.

YOU MUST GROOVE WITH THE GROOVALOOS
I bought this tape, watched it once and was done. I found out about The Groovaloos through search engines and THIS IS HOW YOU LEARN TO DANCE!!!! GROOVIN' WITH THE GROOVALOOS! It's hip hop, it's fun, it faces forward and back, and these guys are the best at what they do. AND the videos are a series! There's 1 & 2 and there's a 3rd one coming out sometime soon. They have an awesome website www.groovaloos.comI highly recommend this Groovin with The Groovaloos to anybody, beginner or experienced if you want to really get down wit the get down!

This is not a workout- or learn-to-dance video!
First, based on the editoral review, I don't think that Emily Bedard watched this video, much less danced to it. Fatima may be a creative and smart choreographer, but she is not a teacher. She didn't mirror-teach the moves, which makes them more than tricky. On top of that, the camerawork was terrible. The video gives close-ups, but only of the top-half of Fatima's body, leaving you guessing on the foot work. I got so frustrated trying to learn the last section of the video; I stopped and turned it off. This was the section that Fatima is on her `giant silver pillar'. During this section, the video is in an upward angle of Fatima with no view of her feet or what they're doing; leaving this section impossible to learn. Also, Fatima didn't count to all the moves. During the Aaliyah section, Fatima made sound effects that included `bop', `bam', and `dun'. I would not classify those as "fantastic sound effects" or good counting. I will use some of the moves in my routines, but I wouldn't dare try dancing to the whole song with only the moves I learned from this video. Especially the Aaliyah video, Fatima didn't provide half of the steps to this video. I can honestly say that I learned more from the music video itself. The moves alone aren't difficult. But with all the other factors affecting the learning curve with this video, I do not recommend it. This would be a good video if you are bored one Saturday morning and needed some different moves to add to your routine before hitting the clubs. Do not buy this video if you want a workout!
